Criteria for IVC

Qualifications of IVC Providing Institutions

To qualify as a providing institution for the Illinois Virtual Campus, an institution must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a college or university chartered in Illinois

  2. Be recognized by the State of Illinois or the Illinois Board of Higher Education (established after 1961)

  3. Be accredited by the North Central Association

Obligations of IVC Providing Institutions

The obligations of IVC providing institutions are as follows:

  1. Follow the North Central Association's guidelines of good practice for all distance education courses and programs. The guidelines can be found on the NCA website at http://www.ncacihe.org

  2. Maintain a current list of the institution's distance education offerings on the IVC website.

  3. Provide reports on distance education enrollments to the IVC at the end of each semester/term.

  4. Assist the IVC in conducting periodic research surveys regarding distance education students and the faculty teaching distance education courses.

  5. Keep the institution's faculty, staff and students well informed about the services and resources provided by the Illinois Virtual Campus for distance education students and faculty.

How to Become an IVC Provider

A college or university that meets the criteria for IVC providing institutions may become an IVC Provider at any time by contacting the Illinois Virtual Campus office by phone (217-244-9531) or e-mail (ivc@uillinois.edu.)
